To enhance the hunting experience for youth and females, on each of the supervised gun stalk deer hunts, (except Demopolis WMA, St. Clair CHA, Upper Delta WMA, and West Jefferson WMA), each hunter under 16 years of age and all females will be issued an either sex deer permit good for that hunt. Special rules and regulations apply on all Wildlife Management Areas. Individuals should check area map or with Area Biologists for specifics. A
hunting license, management area permit, and management area license are
required when hunting on management areas. AUTAUGA COMMUNITY HUNTING AREALocated in Autauga County North of Prattville. 6,700 acres; Big game and small game hunting. MAPPERMITS: Gun deer permits will be issued daily from the Checking Station and headquarters located 1 mile north of Posey Crossroads (Posey Crossroads is 11 miles NW of Prattville, AL on Autauga Co. Road #57). Season small game, archery deer and turkey permits can be obtained at Checking Station; Autauga County Courthouse; Posey Crossroads General Merchandise; and Whites City Market at White City, AL. Maps and season permits may be obtained by writing Mike Sievering, PO Box 305, Northport, AL 35476. Include a large, self-addressed, stamped envelope and your current state and management area hunting license numbers and indicate the permit you desire. BARBOUR COUNTY WMALocated in Barbour and Bullock Counties near Clayton. 18,924 acres; Big game and small game hunting. MAPPERMITS: Season
permits for small game, archery, and turkey may be obtained from self-service
box at checking station. Permits requested by mail should be made to Frank
Allen 188 Christa Dr. Midway, AL 36053 (Phone [334] 529-3222); Requests
must include current hunting license number and large, stamped, self-addressed
envelope. All deer hunters (including archery) during the gun, youth
and primitive weapons deer hunts shall be issued a hunting permit and
shall report in and out at the checking station located at the area headquarters
All deer killed shall be reported to personnel at the checking station
which will open no later than 5:00 am Trapping permits may be obtained
only from area biologist. Roads are closed seasonally from May 1 to September
1. Special buck size harvest restrictions apply. BLACK WARRIOR WMALocated in Lawrence and Winston counties near Moulton. 98,000 acres; Big game and small game hunting. MAPPERMITS: Permits for gun and primitive weapons deer hunts will be issued from the Black Warrior Headquarters Checking Station, 200 yards off of Hwy 33 on the Northwest Road (Forest Service Rd. 208), on the dates of the hunts and from 3:00 to 5:00 p m the day before the hunt Permits for the Youth Turkey Hunt will be issued from the checking station on the day of the hunt. Trapping permit must be obtained from area biologist. BLUE SPRINGS WMALocated in Covington County near Andalusia. 23,370 acres; Big game and small game hunting. MAPPERMITS. Season permits will be issued for small game, archery deer and turkey. All deer hunters (including archery) during the modern gun deer hunts shall be issued a daily permit from the checking station and shall report in and out at the checking station located at the Blue Spring Equipment Shed near Open Pond Tower in Conecuh National Forest. Checking station will open no later than 5:00 am. Season permits requested by mail issued by Area Biologist Thagard Colvin, 1100 S 3-Notch St, Andalusia, AL 36420 (Phone [334] 222-5415). Request must include current hunting license numbers and a large stamped self-addressed envelope. Season permits available on a self-service basis from the checking station or during business hours at the Wildlife District Vl Office in Andalusia. Trapping permits must be obtained from the area biologist. CAHABA RIVER WMALocated in Bibb and Shelby counties near West Blocton. 41,500 acres; Big game and small game hunting. MAPPERMITS: Gun
deer permits will be issued daily from the checking station. Season
small game, archery deer and turkey permits can be obtained locally at

MAPPERMITS: Permits for the Nov 16 youth, the Dec 13-14 gun deer hunts will be issued from the two checking stations during the dates of the hunts. Permits for campers on the gun deer hunts will be issued the day before each hunt beginning at 3:00 p.m. Season permits for the gun deer hunts of Nov 30-Dec 6 , Dec 28-Jan 3, and Jan 11-17 and for the primitive weapons hunt on Dec 18-21, and for small game, archery deer and turkey will be available from self-service boxes located at the two checking stations or may be obtained by writing Area biologist Randle Liles, 796 Chosea Springs Road, Anniston, AL 36207 (phone [256] 435-5422) or the Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Office, 4101 AL Hwy. 21 North, Jacksonville, AL 36265. Hwy. 9, White Plains; Rabbittown General Store, Rabbittown; Norton's Express Mart, Hwy. 21 S. Jacksonville; Edwardsville Shopette. Hwy 78, Edwardsville; Courthouse, Heflin; Crossroads Quickmart, intersection Hwy 431 and Hwy 9, Hollis Cross Roads; and Wal-Mart Stores in Oxford, Anniston, and Jacksonville. The two hunter checking stations, one located at the old Warden Lodge and the other located at the junction of Joseph Springs Rd. Permits will be issued for gun deer hunting from checking station located
near Lawrence Fire Tower on Covington Co. Hwy. 89, which will open no
later than 5:00 a m. Season permits will be issued for small game, archery
deer, and turkey and are available at Clem's Tackle Shop, Hwy. 84 W.,
Opp; Lockhart Grocery, Florala; Revel's Grocery, 4 miles west of Samson
on Hwy 52; and on a self-service basis from the checking station. Permits
requested by mail should be made to Area Biologist John Powers, 1100 South

include current hunting license number and large, stamped, self-addressed
envelope Trapping permits may be obtained only from area biologists. CROW CREEK WMALocated in Jackson County near Stevenson. 2,161 acres; waterfowl and small game. week, 24 hours a day. ESCAMBIA CREEK COMMUNITY HUNTING AREALocated in Escambia County near Atmore. 16,599 acres; big game and small game. MAPPERMITS: All deer hunters during the gun deer hunts shall be issued a daily permit from the checking station and shall report in and out of the checking station located on Hwy 27 and Steward Road in the Little Rock Community. Checking station will open no later than 5:00 a. m. Season permits issued for small game, archery deer, and turkey are available at Escambia County Satellite Courthouse; Escambia County Courthouse, Terry's Corner Store, K-Mart in Atmore and on a self-service basis from the checking station. Permits requested by mail should be made to Area Biologist Richard Tharp, 2227 E. BOYKIN WMALocated in Washington and Mobile Counties near Citronelle. 18,185 acres; big game and small game. MAPPERMITS: Gun deer permits except 7-day stalk and primitive weapons will be issued daily from checking station located on Washington Co. Rd. 35, 6 miles northeast of Citronelle, AL. Primitive weapons and season small game, archery deer, and turkey permits may be obtained from self-service box at the checking station or by writing Area Biologist Ben Davis, P O. All deer and turkeys killed must be checked at the checking station Trapping permits must be obtained from area biologist. FREEDOM HILLS WMALocated in Colbert County near Cherokee. 8,540 acres; big game and small game. MAPPERMITS: A map/permit
(which is valid for entire season) is required for all hunts. All deer
and turkey harvested shall be reported to the administrators of the hunt.
Map/permits may be obtained by writing Area Biologist Mitchell Marks,

road gates will be closed except on days of gun deer hunts and the first

permits for the Dec 7-13 and Jan 11-17 gun deer hunts and small game,

Sylacauga; and Mike's Army Surplus in Talladega. (All deer hunters (including
archery) during the gun deer hunts on Nov 23 and Jan 3 and primitive weapons
hunts on Dec 20-21 shall be issued a hunting permit and shall report in
and out at the checking station located at Country Cousins Store, Hollins.)

The checking station will be opened no later than 5:00 a. m. Trapping
permits may be obtained only from the area biologist. KINTERBISH WMALocated in Sumter and Choctaw Counties near York. 10,400 acres; big game and small game. MAPPERMITS: Season permits for all seasons except gun and primitive weapons deer hunting may be obtained from Jachin Grocery, Jachin; Young's Workshop and Village Jewelry and Sports, Butler; Short Stop Grocery, York; Short Stop Grocery, York; Ace Hardware Home and Auto Store, York; Dixie Gas and Denco's No. 2. Permits will also be available on a self-service basis in a mailbox at the checking station (equipment shed). All hunters during the gun and primitive weapons deer hunts shall be issued a permit from the checking station located at Gaston Community, 3 miles east of Ward, AL on Sumter co Rd. 10.
