Alexander City's early history

Did You Know?

The "Flag of the Republic of Alabama" also known as the secession flag was stolen in 1865 from the Governor's office by a Yankee soldier with Wilson's raiders. It was kept in a museum cabinet located in Des Moines, Iowa. The Iowa Governor and State Legislature eventually voted to return it back to Alabama. Of course many years later.
