With a newly open children's library, in fact, Alabama's only State children's library, new public marinas, a revamped State park, and hundreds of other truly unique features, it's no wonder why the Wall Street Journal, Kiplinger's Magazine, and many others call Lake Martin "the best retirement community in the world".
Each year Alex City host numerous B.A.S.S. Masters tournaments, the Dixie Youth baseball and softball tournaments, and youth soccer and basketball tournaments at the Alexander City Sportsplex, a truly magnificent sports park, and many other sponsored events. Alexander City is working hard to keep growing but it will never out grow its rich history. The area has many monuments to its white and black founders, to the Native Americans in which the area still bares many of their original names, and other historical events that have helped shape Alexander City, throughout its long rich history. Throughout this section, I hope to introduce you to everything you need to know about Alex City and the Lake Martin Area to help make your visit truly incredible. |

Did You Know? The "Flag of the Republic of Alabama" also known as the secession flag was stolen in 1865 from the Governor's office by a Yankee soldier with Wilson's raiders. It was kept in a museum cabinet located in Des Moines, Iowa. The Iowa Governor and State Legislature eventually voted to return it back to Alabama. Of course many years later. |
