Lake Martin Public Access Boat Ramps

Lake Martin often surprises people when it comes to its enormous size, encompassing over 44,000 acres. One would think with a lake this size public access wouldn't be an issue. However, that can be the furthest from the truth.

With more and more land developing going on around the entire lake, public access is all to often the last thing on anyone's minds.

Below you will find a list of "FREE" boat ramps around Lake Martin. If you know of any that is not part of our list, please send them to visitingalabama.com and I will post them as soon as possible.

** Alexander City Boat Ramp-Coley Creek,
* Bakers Bottom's Ramp-Off Baker Bottom Rd
* D.A.R.E Power Park Ramp-Young's Ferry Road

**Kawliga-on Highway 63, roughly 15 miles south of Alexander CityKawliga Boat Ramp

This is one of the nicest public boatramps on LakeMartin. You could easily have five or six boats tied up at one time, on its long dock. Once you're ready to take off you're right in the main body of Lake Martin.

Directly across from dock is Kawliga Marina, a great place to store your boat, get some snacks, and gas up for a great day on Lake Martin.

There is one major drawback to this boatramp. Because of its immense popularity, parking is a major problem. During fishing tournaments and sometimes just on a beautiful weekend this boatramp is extremely crowded and difficult to maneuver.

If you're disabled this is a great place to board your boat. The dock is very stable and easy to tie your boat off on.

* Madwin Creek Ramp-Point Windy Drive

*** New Hope Church-Off Hwy 63-Wicker Point's Rd., to Young's Ferry Rd., West

This boat landing has a beautiful view of the lake, from a part of the woods often less traveled. You will pass by a couple old looking barns, a donkey and a horse, and a lot of woods. The road winds it's way through the woods for several miles. It's really hard to tell how far we traveled down it, because I was more interested in looking for wildlife and wild cars coming around and over the hidden curves and gullies. If you're patient the reward is very nice. The swimming looked great, the boat ramp was maintained, and it has a nice dock to allow easy access on and off of your boat. You will find New Hope Church just passed the boat launch. However, don't plan to do any swimming, boating, or fishing from their point. They make it very clear, they don't won't any "trespassers" at their church. Personally I found that a little disappointing but that's just my opinion.

Both the Church and the boat ramp are wheelchair friendly.

* Paces Point Ramp-Off Hwy. 34(Real Ridge Rd.)

*** Piney Woods Landing-Coven Abbett Rd, veer left on Piney Woods, right on Corley Rd.

Piney Woods Landing is another very nice boatramp. It also opens into the main body of Lake Martin. It has a nice parking lot, that even on a full day is easily maneuverable. Its boatramp gently slopes down into the water, making it very easy to put your boat in and out of the water.

Although the dock is not the nicest, this too is a very assessable boat launch and dock.

* Smith Landing Ramp- Old Susanna Rd.
* Sturdivant Creek Ramp-County Rd 40
* Union Ramp- Center Port Rd (off Hwy. 50)
